Ministries

There are many opportunities in which members and friends of all ages may participate at St. John's UMC.

Youth

United Methodist Youth Fellowship, or UMYF, of St. John's is composed of students in grades 6-12 and the adults who love sharing Christ with them. It is our goal to balance fun, learning, worship, and service as we help young people and their families navigate the crazy times of middle and high school.

Women

United Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in global ministries. Small study groups or circles meet monthly.

Senior Adults

We would like to invite anyone that is 50 and older (or if you are younger and just want to join us!) to join the Golden Hearts . We enjoy activities, trips and fellowship with one another. God has blessed us to be a happy, healthy, active and vibrant group that enjoys life. Please do not miss out on all the fun and fellowship.

Scouting

Boy Scouts is open to boys ages 11-18. Any boys interested in Scouting and the Troop are encouraged to visit us during one of our meetings. Scouting builds character, trains young men in the responsibilities of citizenship and service, and encourages personal fitness.

St. John's also sponsors Cub Scout Pack 316 for boys from 1st to 5th Grade.

Sacks of Love

Sacks of Love program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children in Kershaw County at times when other resources are not available by providing them with easy to prepare foods to take home during the weekends or holiday vacation.

Prayers and Squares

Prayers & Squares is an interfaith outreach organization that combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand-tied quilt. The purpose of Prayers & Squares is to promote prayer through the use of quilts. Our motto is: "It's not about the quilt; it's all about the prayers."

Men

The United Methodist Men is comprised of every adult male member of St. John's.

Each one is invited to participate in our programs and projects. The purpose of the Methodist Men is to enjoy good fellowship, deepen our spiritual lives, strengthen the role of men in the church, and motivate service in the name of Jesus Christ.

Grounds Ministry

The Grounds team is responsible for trimming and mowing the church landscape.

If you are able to help with the upkeep and maintenance of the church grounds, please contact the church office.

Children

Our mission is to support and nurture the growth of all children and their families as disciples of Jesus Christ. We offer spiritual opportunities that encourage a knowledge of and a relationship with God so that we can connect hearts to Christ and one another.

St. John's offers many wonderful and exciting ministry opportunities. Vacation Bible School is the Children’s Ministry’s largest outreach event and occurs each summer.

Adult Choir and Handbells

Be a part of the music ministry at St. John's by serving the Lord as you lead in worship and praise. If you love Jesus and love to sing about Him there is a place for you in the choir. We practice on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.

St John’s handbell choir rehearses on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary and rings periodically throughout the year at our worship service on Sundays at 10:45 am.

Adults

We have a variety of informal classes to meet the needs of individuals of all ages and stages of life. Everyone is welcome in our Adult Sunday School classes.
